About Us

Centre's Philosophy Statement

Hurstville Grove Kindergarten aims to provide quality child care through a program that is appropriate to each child's development and individual needs - taking a child centred approach. Our individual focus is designed to develop a positive self-esteem by enhancing their skills and knowledge for further development through out school and life.

We believe each child is unique, capable and resourceful. Bringing a variety of input to the learning environment, that we as carers will use to guide and support individual learning in a safe and happy play environment.

As carers we will treat each child equally and as an individual, supporting their needs, strengths, interests and cultural/ religious / family diversity.

As carers we will support self help events, rest/relaxation, meal times and play (learning) for all children.

As carers we will respect the options and rights of parents.
We will promote a partnership with families and the development of interest in the wider community.

We understand that there are different learning styles and ways in which children take in information. As carers we will provide opportunities for each child to explore language, music, movement, science and arts either as an individual or as a member of a small or large group.

While interacting with others, carers will encourage each child to be respectful and value ideas and differences of their peers, carers and the centre's environment, giving each child a feeling of inclusion and self-worth.
